Meet the Artist
Judy Palfrey
Judy has made a lifetime career of creating. Her love for painting emerging in Elementary School when she won her her first painting contest with her painting of a Robin was put on the cover of her school magazine. She took art in High School and went to Penn State University to study Creative Arts and Interior Design, graduating with a BS degree in Home Economics.
While living in New Jersey, she worked in oils, acrylics and watercolor, painting with Anthony Ventura for ten years. Since moving to New Hampshire, Judy has studied with Joan Wirth, Mary Bohn, Sylvia Brofos, Kevin Dadoly and the late Loran Percy.
Her art work is distinctive, each painting showing her flair for originality and imagination.She enjoys painting a wide variety of subjects. Her love of nature is shown in her landscapes and larger than life floral paintings. Judy is also a decorative painter and muralist. In August of 2002 the Peabody Home, Franklin, NH commissioned her to piant eleven large scenic murals. She completed this project in the Spring of 2003. The murals are avialable for viewing by appointment.
She was instrumental in having community members from 6 to 92 years of age design and paint 30 large light post banners. 22 in 2004 and 8 in 2006. Most of them hang in the city now for all to enjoy.
She has exhibited in NJ with current work exhibited in NH. She is now working mostly in watercolor, yet still enjoys oils and acrylics.
Judy loves to garden, sew, walk, travel and enjoy family and friends at the lake. Judy and her husband enjoy their family and traveling. They each have taken an active role in their city.
She exhibits at Manchester Artist Assoc. during the year and participates in art shows around New England during the year.
